The Threshold Mother Saga [Behind The Scenes]

The Threshold Mother Saga [Behind The Scenes]

It's not often that an author lets us experiment with their book in three different softwares while in edit and juggling a bunch of projects—but Mosslyn is always open to collaboration and experimentation. Mosslyn,  who is also the assistant to the ladies at the lighthouse is one of the talented artists we have. Her fine arts degree shined in this novel, capturing fantastical pieces that speak on a deep and profound level. They are not just 'art pieces' they see into your soul, and call you to a deeper religious experience that is just around the next bend of that forest, or singing to you from that marsh.

Regardless of the amount of juggling she does here, because assisting us is not easy, there are so many aspects of publishing that no one sees. There are some days, where Mosslyn and I are still at our desks long after supper, long after the sun went down. Despite the demands of her assistant job, she never stopped from working tirelessly to get her book ready to launch. She sat with me watching layout, participating in designs for the cover, the page edge, the ads, while also making a ton of content for the other authors in the lighthouse.

She learned the software to help me finish all the margin work, placement work, and was patient with me during many hours of almost crashing programs to birth this little wonder of a book. The Threshold Mother Saga is a layered narrative which birthed an entire line of products to 'live' the intentional magic outlined in the book. Mosslyn brought us the concept of wearables, she also just stepped up in launching it, helping create designs, sourcing charms, choosing what would be the first one to launch.

The concept weaves in aspects of animism, living objects and the idea of having spiritual pieces that mean something to us.

The process was incredibly fun—experimenting with patterns and colors that would complement the book's spiritual themes while maintaining visual harmony, even pickign packaging and extras that would blend with the overall vision of the book. I cannot wait for people to open this box, its going to be spectacular. The author's input at each stage ensured that the final product truly reflected her vision and the intentional magic she wanted readers to feel the moment they held the book in their hands. We are so excited about this novel and hope to see some unboxing of this gorgeous novel.
