A super refreshing take on these stories. I always wondered why names were never translated no matter how good the translation I was reading of all the Germanic mythological cycle. I have been deeply involved in classical Hindu stories for many years, and those are all so deeply layered with deep meanings on many levels, and in many places a key to knowing the hidden meanings begins with paying attention to what the names of the characters mean. Example is Bhagavad Gita—get the names of characters and their weapons and the battlefield all translated and you have a much deeper story start to appear. I always thought that the stories of my ancestral Gods and their champions would be the same. This book shows that I am not alone in my thinking. Now I will proceed to open myself to the deeper layers of these stories, and with any luck, the roots of The Steed of the Terrible One will begin to grow within my own heart. I want to meet the author and give her a hug and a fist bump. She has done us all a great and invaluable service. Really.
